Let's empower your body for the best birth possible.
Viva Family Chiropractic in Golden Valley, MN offers gentle prenatal chiropractic care using the Webster Technique, a specific approach for pregnancy that focuses on pelvic balance and the nervous system. Dr. Karisa Walsh sees moms from early pregnancy through postpartum, with care that supports a more comfortable pregnancy and helps your body prepare for birth.
Why moms choose prenatal chiropractic
Pregnancy is a beautiful but demanding time for your body. Your hormones shift, your center of gravity moves, and your pelvis and spine carry more every week. When your pelvis is balanced and your nervous system is working well, your body can adapt to those changes with less strain.
Moms often come to us for:
Low back, hip, or pubic bone discomfort
Sciatica or round ligament pain
Trouble sleeping or getting comfortable
Headaches and neck tension
A breech or posterior baby
Preparing their body for the birth they're hoping for
Recovery after birth
“I saw Dr. Karisa through my entire pregnancy and had the best labor because of it!”
“My first child was breech and I was determined to get my next baby in the right position for birth. I’m happy to say we accomplished a natural VBAC!”
“Dr. Karisa’s knowledge was impressive and so helpful for me as a first-time mom.”
Chiropractic can help you every step of the way.
There's nothing more rewarding for us than getting to see someone through the incredible journey of birth. No matter where you are in the process, we'd love to be there for you. Our standard care recommendation runs through eight weeks postpartum.
First trimester
We help your body adapt early. Gentle adjustments can ease tension, fatigue, and the stress of early changes.
Second and third trimester
As your belly grows, we focus on pelvic balance and low back comfort. In the final weeks, we support baby's position and get your body ready for labor.
Postpartum
Recovery doesn't stop when baby arrives. We help your body heal from birth and adjust to feeding and carrying. Moms under our care during pregnancy get a complimentary newborn check.
What is the Webster Technique?
The Webster Technique is a chiropractic approach for pregnancy that checks and balances the pelvis, along with the muscles and ligaments that support it. A balanced pelvis gives your baby more room to move and settle into the best position for birth.
We use a framework called the 3 P's of birth:
Power: your nervous system and uterus working together
Passageway: a balanced pelvis with room to open
Passenger: your baby, with space to get into a good position
Webster care is recommended throughout your entire pregnancy. Dr. Karisa is Webster certified and has focused her practice on pregnancy and pediatrics since 2017.
What your first visit looks like
Visit one: history and exam. We talk through your pregnancy, health history, and birth goals. Then we do a gentle exam and neurological scans to see how your nervous system is handling stress.
Visit two: results and plan. We review your findings together and give you a care recommendation for the rest of your pregnancy.
The new patient process is $150 and covers both visits. Adjustments start at $65. We don't bill insurance, but many moms use their HSA or FSA. Our office is right off Highways 394 and 169, with a play area if you bring older kids.
Common questions about prenatal chiropractic
Q: Is chiropractic safe during pregnancy?
A: Yes. Prenatal adjustments are gentle and adapted to each stage of pregnancy. We use pregnancy pillows and positioning so you're never lying on your belly.
Q: When should I start chiropractic care in pregnancy?
A: Any time. Webster care is recommended throughout your entire pregnancy, and many moms start in the first trimester.
Q: Can a chiropractor turn a breech baby?
A: Chiropractors don't turn babies. The Webster Technique balances the pelvis and the ligaments around the uterus, which can give your baby more room to move into a head-down position on their own.
Q: Does chiropractic help with labor?
A: Many moms tell us they feel more prepared and comfortable going into birth. A balanced pelvis and a well-functioning nervous system support your body's natural ability to give birth.
Q: Do you work with midwives and OBs?
A: Yes. We're happy to work alongside your birth team and support the birth plan you've chosen, whether at a hospital, birth center, or at home.
Q: Do you take insurance?
A: We're an out-of-network, cash-based office. Many moms use their HSA or FSA for prenatal care.
Q: Do you check newborns after birth?
A: Yes. Moms who are under care during pregnancy receive a complimentary newborn check for their baby.
